Academy Award-nominated composer 和 pianist 尼古拉斯Britell (Pre-College ’99, piano) is known for his scores, including for Barry Jenkins’ 2018 If 比尔 Street Could Talk 和 Jenkins’ 2017 Academy Award best picture winner 月光. Britell received Academy Award nominations for both those films as well as BAFTA 和 Critics Choice nominations for 比尔. He received Golden Globe 和 Critics Choice nominations as well as the 2016 Hollywood 音乐 in Media Award for best original score (dramatic feature) for 月光. The year before, he wrote the score for Adam McKay’s 大空头, which marked the start of his collaboration with the Academy Award-winning writer-director-producer. In 2018, he wrote the score for McKay’s 副, starring Christian Bale 和 Amy Adams. For television, Britell scores HBO's 继承, for which he won the 2019 Emmy for outst和ing original main title theme music 和 the Hollywood 音乐 in Media Award for best original score. In 2020, he was nominated for a second Emmy for outst和ing music composition for a series for his score for 继承的 第二季. Britell’s most recent film work is the score for Netflix’s 国王, starring Timothée Chalamet. In 2019, Britell was honored by the World Soundtrack Awards as film composer of the year for his scores for If 比尔 Street Could Talk 和 副.
Britell is a Steinway Artist 和 is also a Juilliard Creative Associate. In 2018 it was announced that Britell would be part of Esa-Pekka Salonen’s creative collective brain trust as Salonen took the reins as music director of the San Francisco Symphony. Britell’s recent public performances have included concerts at London’s Barbican Hall, the Million Dollar Theatre in Los Angeles, 芝加哥的拉维尼亚, 和 林肯中心’s Alice Tully Hall. Britell is an honors 和 Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Harvard University as well as a piano performance graduate of Juilliard Pre-College, where he returned in 2016 as commencement speaker.
